1884 O Morgan, has awesome mirror/cartwheel. I'm gong to figure this out before taking a dirt nap so help me! What's the better of the 2 pics? There is a difference on lighting position, same lights, 13 watt LEDs (2, one each side). Celestron scope, extended tube so I can get full coin shot. Scope lights are off. Sitting on a #18 gray scale card. Some natural lighting, no clouds, through a window. Hammer away.

Still can't figure out why I'm getting the yellow, I thought LED lights would not do this. All lighting I have tried does this, some worse than others. After posting, pics look slightly different than on my screen. Work in progress.. hammer time.

Same coin, all lights off, 100% natural light.

Again, natural light with scope LEDs on low.

And again, natural light although fading fast, scope LEDs about mid range. After this everything is washed out.

I like the last one the best. It's closest to being level, and the color balance is the best.
It's possible that the brightest highlights are burned out?

Obverse, different coin, 1886. Not quite the same mirror/cartwheel but has them. Olympus camera, 14-42 lens, daylight, no added LED lites, etc. Black background: White background: Gray background:

I think the middle coin, white background is out. Looking at them I think the gray background card, mid day sun is the closest to the coin in hand. I may use that setup and wait for sunny days for pics. What say ya'll?

Honestly, I think it makes sense to show a couple of views with different lighting (especially with proofs). I think all of the last three are helpful for assessing a grade. If you just want one pic, I would vote for the last one.
