I know that this coin is not that impressive or that valuable, but I actually am a bit stuck on the grading. I found it in my change but it has a lot of nice luster still and the lettering is sharp. So do you guys think that this is a BU? (sorry about the rather bad scans)

I'm not a grading expert but I dont think it can be a BU grade as the steps are all worn off. Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

malissadawn- yeah I was just a bit perplexed by it since the lettering was so sharp and there is so much luster left (even on the steps). I thought that maybe this was just a really weak strike.

AU, it has some light rub but the steps are frequently weak even on BU examples. For many earlier dates, full steps(FS) adds a premium to the value.

biokemist6- thanks for the input. I thought that weak steps were common. that is why I was a bit stumped on this one.

Brilliant Uncirculated on a coin found in change? hehe...
It looks a good XF to my eyes.

NumisMattyUk- yeah, I know that it is odd to classify a circulating coin as uncirculated. But I think that it takes a couple of transactions before any wear occurs.
