I remember awhile back there was talk of curved coins like the upcoming Apollo series coming out for the NBA. If I remember correctly they were to come out in 2019. I was wondering if there will be other 5oz proof coins coming out another year or is the Apollo a one off maybe? So does anybody know what happened to the NBA coins and if there are still plans to mint them?

We discussed it back here: http://goccf.com/t/282658

Signed/Enacted on December 21, 2018: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/115/hr1235

According to the text of the legislation, it's a 2020 release.

Once again, these coins will have the same obverse and reverse designs for all 3 denominations.

Quote:
The Secretary shall hold a competition to determine the design of the common obverse of the coins minted under this Act, with such design being emblematic of the game of basketball.
and
Quote:
The design on the common reverse of the coins minted under this Act shall depict a basketball.

Thanks, I missed all of that! Doesn't look like they will be doing a 5 oz. saucer with these offerings, so that is good.
