I have the following 1859 One cent, I was just wondering what it would sell for, it looks bronze or brassy, I'd really like to know what anyone thought, you think it's real, I tried using a magnet and it didn't pick it up!

I would like to help, but I don't have the knowledge at the ready. Others with more knowledge will respond, I guarantee it.

Welcome aboard the site ... lots a great help in these forums, so just ask away! The 1858 and 1859 cents were much (about 1/3) thinner than those from the next mintage year of 1876. The large cents from 1876 til 1920 are all the same, thicker coins than you have.

Your coin is bronze and they were made so that every coin is 1 inch in diameter (12 makes a foot) and 100 would equal a pound (each coin, when new, was 4.54 g), so they were initially sometimes used as a scale/weight measure. Any wear on the coin will reduce the weight, so your 4.4g coin is about normal for a circulated piece. Your photos are somewhat blurry, but I'd say that is probably in F-12/15 condition, so it's not worth very much .. maybe $4-5 as far as value, but it would sell to someone for a little less.

Here is a website where you can check your coin for which of the 248 known die pairs it is. If you post clear photos of the obverse and reverse, we can help you with the identification.
