HI. I bought a Moy signed ASE PR70 (label POP 193) and noticed it had some light toning around the feet, skirt and rising sun that wasn't visible in the pics when purchased. I have 2 weeks to return it, but was wondering if I should. I can't seem to get the pulse of these graded ASE's worth if they are toned. My general feeling is the market frowns on toned graded eagles. Thoughts? Edited by 316ASE 01/20/2019 4:33 pm

Welcome to the forum! I don't know if that's common from my little experience, but I hate toning. If returnable, *I* would have had it in the mail for a return the same day.

If you're collecting the Moy label, then you might want to keep it. If you're collecting the coin, then there are probably better examples out there.

Thank you all. I do want the label, but I agree the toning looks juvenile (if that is an adequate description) The toning on the wing tips is kinda cool, but the skirt toning is a kill/stop for me.

Pretty disappointing to see a coin encapsulated in a TPG holder get toning. Always figured if it went in as a 70 it stayed that way in perpetuity.

I don't like toning and just discovered last week a few of my CC Morgan's have started to tone. They have been in air-tites for a long time, but were in the cardboard holders long before I got them in the late 80's. They go to the bottom drawer now. A lot of people like the toning today, I would hang on to them.
