Coin weighs 3.1 and is thin like a dime, same size as a nickel but sounds like a silver dime when you drop it. Also is a brown grey color. Any ideas ?

If I had to guess, it was put into some kind of acid which ate away much of the coin.

to CCF. Pics are way blurry,but it does look like acid damage to me also.

I agree with acid coin.
Acid usually attacks the rims first.

I would like to take another shot of this Nickel with much better pic's and repost. I saw a penny on ebay with a thin planchet that really looked a lot like it.

It's not a thin planchet.
A thin planchet would still have some rim showing
