The authors of these two zodiac-patterned coins are Chinese sculptors. The coin motifs are derived from the Chinese zodiac paintings by Chinese painters.

Nice simple coin designs. Wish we could have beautiful, artful coins in the US again. Our coins look like they were designed by a committee.

zzve...to your question about the images, my critique would be:

both images are excellent, but there are always areas to improve:

- they are both cropped too close to the edge. better to leave a little space to improve the presentation
- the first coin/medal has parts cropped off. better to include them in the image unless they are really big and distracting
- first image is a little washed-out. increase contrast a bit or lower black level.
- second image is showing some features of the surface (flow lines). proofs with flat and shiny fields are usually shot with as black a field as possible. adjusting lights to eliminate the reflections might help, or adjust contrast/black level to push the fields to black.
