So what is this called, the marks start below Liberty and go right around the rim to Trust but does not affect the letters.

How unfortunate for the future collectors that this choice for replacing copper cents, was the best they could come up with.
100 years from now, most cents after 1982 won't exist. Not that far away, when you consider the Lincoln Cent is now 109 years old. Once the plating exposes the Zinc below, it's game over. Zinc exposed to the air will turn to powder in 50 years. Plus zinc and copper together will accelerate electrolysis. How do I know this, I collect vintage toy trains, and the drivers are made of zinc, and MANY are crumbling, and no way to stop it. Now we have parts from other trains to swap out, but that supply is NOT unlimited.
