This is one of a few coins I have had for over a year now. Just now looking at them and wondering why I saved them. Well now I know why! This 1990D LMC has my mind boggled. I look and it's very strange as to what happened but the pictures will describe themselves. Let me know your thoughts please. Any feedback will be appreciated. I will post some others too in separate topics.

Yeah it's one of the first coins I found when I started in 11/2017. Didn't know what to do with it. I see the rot happening but I can't figure out all the blobs ok no both sides.

May have been a fountain coin for a while. Hope their wish came true, the coin didn't endure well though.

That's Zinc Rot setting in on your coin. That's why there's bubbles on your coin. It's all Post Strike Damage ( PSD). It didn't happen at the U.S. Mint. It's worth face value.

Agreed Zinc rot. What is unfortunate is that unless sealed and kept away from humidity, that will be the ultimate fate of all Copper plated Zinc coins. By the year 2082, I doubt you will find many 1982 LMC in circulation. Most if not all of them will be in private collections. JMHO.

Wow thank you for all the comments and with all that said I now know what severe zinc rot looks like. I just knew I had something worth more than a cent too, lol. Live and learn!
