I found this 1980 D LMC with what appears to be a zinc core. It weighs 3.13 gms and this wasn't done by solder or any other splatter. This thing has some type of core other than copper. I have never seen anything like this. This is not environmental toning if it were it would be this silver color everywhere. I am absolutely stumped at what this could be as I have never seen anything like it.

Looks like PSD. Possible coin counter damage? (Got stuck in the machine) or some coin mass murder got a hold of it. Pretty much a melt coin at this point.

Mr. Coop, I'm almost inclined to think someone took this cent after it was scraped and ran it over some solder or some other material. That may explain the weight? At first I didn't think that but I have no other logical explanation.

@coop, that's exactly what they did, rub the scrape marks through solder. I keep an extremely sharp knife with me and cut into the cent. Pure copper.
