Picked this V nickel out of a jar of V nickels at my local coin shop simply because they sell them at $0.60 each and it had a mint mark. When I got home I noticed the mint mark looked misshapen and irregular shaped. I'm thinking it's probably a D that took a beating or maybe an S but I'm not sure. I spent hours looking at it and I'm dumbfounded. What do you all think?

Looks like a D that took a hit on the left side to me. Right side is an even curve like a D.

I figured it was a D that got damaged. Still not too bad of a pick despite the eyesore. Thanks guys.
