When I started collecting U.S. coins years ago I primarily purchased silver coins, and dabbled in both copper and nickel from time to time, but never owned any gold. To start off 2019 I decided to finally pull the trigger and buy my first gold coin! Over the past year or so I have been gravitating towards putting together a type set, and this is just another step in that direction. The coin has attractive toning on both the obverse and reverse and is graded MS-62 by PCGS. For the grade, I thought the surfaces looked excellent compared to other 62 examples that I looked at, the only drawback (and likely what kept the coin from grading higher) is that the luster is somewhat subdued because of the heavy toning (more so on the reverse). Nevertheless, I am ecstatic to add such a clean looking example to my collection. Edited by Canadian-Banknotes 01/23/2019 07:20 am

Agree that the surfaces look really nice for a 62. Congrats!

Good choice!
That was the same first US gold coin I bought at the beginning of 2019.

So I actually bought this coin a few months back and returned it immediately. I thought although there weren't many hairlines the surfaces looked horrible in person. No luster and dark as if it had putty used to clean it up. If you like it that is what counts but for a 62 the surfaces were completely dead. I was quite disappointed in it and I think it would be very hard to resell. My personal opinion. I bought some other very nice gold coins from the same seller but this one had photos that made it appear more colorful then it was in hand.

I bought it as it looked nice in pictures. But if you look at more of these coins in person they should have MUCH more lively surfaces. I am pretty confident its the same coin.. also I am truly sorry if this is a buzzkill. I'm just trying to help.

That's most indeed the same coin; however, it's got color so I'm partial to it.
