I just wanted to know what was wrong with the 4 in 1943?

I found this penny and a 1958 wheaty and a 1994 Lincoln (both uncirculated) at the local recycling center in a card board sleeve.

I would guess that it is from a Grease Filled Die, very common.

Maybe it has something to do with your photo but that 43 cent looks like it isn't steel.

Hi,

It's been plated, we call these reprocessed cents. It was done outside of the Mint so it basically ruins the small value that it would have had.

The weak 4 is a very common anomaly on steel cents. In this case, it has nothing to do with the plating job.

Thanks,
Bill
