Hi,

I don't think they would be considered trails. They look like the normal effects of having been struck by a worn die. Metal flow goes out toward the rim when the dies are worn.

Thanks,
Bill

I concur with what Bill stated. The coin has been struck with a LDS to VLDS die, which leaves metal flow lines as seen in the pictures.

One of the main differences between metal flow lines and trail lines is that metal flow lines tend to be radial, while trail lines are at the most dual directional, most of the time having only on direction. Also Trail lines are on the die from beginning to end; metal flow lines begin to occur at the MDS to LMDS of a die's life.
