Just a warning to all here. Sorry for not providing a link, but I'm at work w/o
ebay access. There is an 1878 8TF Morgan currently listed on
ebay ending today that the seller has attributed as a
VAM 5 (big ticket item). He offers the coin as a
VAM 5 in the title and beginning of his text, but offers a caveat emptor to buyers to look at the pictures and decide for themselves. Only problem is the pics omit the key attribution points for a
VAM 5. The coin is actually a
VAM 12 (relatively common). I emailed the seller last night and informed him/her of the attribution error and also notified
ebay. I doubt either will react. I don't want someone on this forum getting burned. This is the second major mis-attribution from this seller that I've seen. I informed him/her of that one too and nothing changed. The coin sold for hundreds of dollars more than it was worth.
If you want to see the coin and wording, just do a search on 1878
VAM 5. The one ending today will be the one. I think the seller was "rdgmb".
