How Can I Identify A Double Die Coin?

I've been looking at some pictures on this forum of Double Die coins, and I don't see the doubling on them. Yet all the comments say stuff like "Nice find!". How do I tell what's Double Die and what isn't?

A good place to start orienting yourself is http://doubleddie.com/58222.html which will help you understand the process behind what makes double dies. There are several types. If you scroll down to the Double Die Charcteristics section, you will very good examples of split serifs and notching that is often an indicator.

Also,get yourself a Cherry Pickers Guide as a reference.
