Hi all,

First of all: No more bad pictures. I got myself a nice little macro camera lens.

What can be said about this Roman coin? It was picked up in a lot of 10 crusty coins presumably found in Croatia. I was rather surprised after all that sand and clay was removed. It's def one of the three better looking coins of the lot. Thanks in advance for ID'ing.

That mug is Claudius Gothicus (based on style - the square jaw is also seen for Quintillus, but he has curly locks). Not much of the name in the legend left, though - might just have the last O in [CLAVDI]O.

The reverse seems to be Concordia standing left with a standard and a cornucopia. This seems to be the only reverse for Claudius II with a cornucopia and something long and thin.

Ben, is probably right, but I can't help thinking that the bust looks like one of the lesser known emperors: Macrinus.

It does look like Macrinus, but the style is too late (and Macrinus has different hair). More to the point, Antoniniani during Macrinus' reign were still in good silver and of full size - and quite rare, as Macrinus issued most of his silver as Denarii. The bronze issues from Macrinus (other than those from the provinces) were in the old denomination - assarii.
