This one is a slight upgrade for me and likely will hold the top spot for a long time to come. Nice S/S west on what looks like a die stage A MS-66 coin.

Took me a while to see the RPM on this one. But on the V.V. site the RPM is easier to see on this one.

TB , that's one of my favorites but for more reasons than one. There was a little stamp and coin shop in town called the Sycamore House that provided stamps for my collection as a kid and later , when I first started looking for varieties , one of my first trips out was there. Among other things I can't remember on that trip, I scored a 1942-s rpm#3,#4 and #12 , along with a 1960-D rpm#1 , all in unc.
Such great memories but I think I was spoiled from the very beginning !

Hey John,

Well I do suppose there's more than a couple shiny objects in my collection. Thought about a book, so it's an idea but...

The other idea I have toyed with is to start up a website where the goal would be to take each year and mint for Lincoln cents and kind of just discuss what all can be found for that year and where to look on the coin in general (with lots of photos). That's probably more useful in general, but would actually be more time than writing a book. The two short books I have written each came together in a few months, while a website like that would take at least a year.

Stoneman that's awesome. Every kid should have a coin and stamp shop to visit. But at least around here they are dropping one by one as the old timers that ran them retire and it doesn't seem to be a career being taken up by the younger crowd.

Ah but remember that I am by profession a wildlife biologist and cave specialist with a primary focus on bats with over 100 articles published on those topics. Armando Rodriguez-Duran and I wrote the field guide to the bats of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola (in Spanish) and I did a book about the wildlife at the Firestone Center for Restoration Ecology in Costa Rica. Will be somewhat of a change of scenery so to speak from what I normally write or blog about. So far the only coins I have written about are those with bats on them, which I collect, but that is some interesting reading and a whole category on my blog. Because that is totally coin related I can probably get away with putting that link in here: http://www.tropicalbats.com/tropica...ry/bat-coins
