So if you have a coin in a holder, leave it in the holder and don't take it out. The coin will be worth more in the holder than the removed coin taken out. Why? Taking the coin out now shows a damaged coin. In the holder at least it has value there.

They are pressed into the holders. The bending of the coin is what holds it in place.
