Found this French 5 Euro Cents coin (2000) in a roll of Jefferson nickels I was searching through today from my local bank. (NF String & Son etc.)

Any kind of premium value on this since it was before 2002?

As for the introduction of the euro in 2002, the National Banks of the member countries needed a massive amount of coins (and banknotes), they started minting them in 1999. Some countries, like Belgium, Finland, france and the Netherlands, put the year of actual minting on the coins, others, like Ireland and Austria, issued them with year 2002.
That's why you can find euro coins with dates 1999,2000 and 2001.

As they were struck in massive amounts, there's no premium for them. Your French 5 eurocent coin of 2000 has a mintage of 280,099,000

Luck-eee! At least you got something worth a little more than a nickel. I went down to the bank a few days ago to cash out my change, and the counter spit out a 1996 English 10 pence which must have passed for a quarter in change, and a 1979 Netherlands 5 cent which must have passed for an oversized penny. More junk for the box of unspendable money.

The French and German mints, for example, started minting euro and cent coins at about the same time, in mid-1998. France decided to use 1999 as the first year that appears on the coins (since that is when the euro was officially launched), Germany used 2002 (since that is when the euro cash became legal tender).
