Why are some specimens so expensive on epay, but some aren't expensive? The solid(e.g.2222222) and the specimen, which one is better to collect?

A lot of so-called specimen banknotes on ebay aren't proper specimen banknotes. Some are fakes, some are just ordinary notes, some seem just to be printed to fool the collector.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specimen_banknote for a useful introduction to specimen banknotes.

IMO: I would not consider a specimen (printed with "Specimen" on the note & having all 0000000 for its serial number) a solid radar. That's because the BOC is indicating that the note is NOT a typical circulating note intended to use as money. The note is only supposed to be used to train people what the series looks like. I believe they were issued for bank employees to give them a close up look at the security features of a note(series).

I have just read the Wiki article suggested by "Pertinax" now and agree that the note is purposely "deformed" (with perforations/extra printing) and NOT legal tender.

I have never collected them and am always surprised what people pay for them. If I had the money to buy a specimen I would most definitely turn my attention to a solid radar instead (since these legal tender notes were actually intended to circulate). This is likely what a lot of collectors do thus driving up the price of solids.

-If you want to buy a solid (or specimen) online (like ebay) than I suggest you buy one that is TPG and that way you will be sure it is legit.
