Normaly the test note because it is printed in smaller quantity , and they are known many years after their issue, and the grade of the note is not high.

- all notes released into circulation are of much higher interest to me (than specimens- which are typically sold to the public by the issuing authority- in our case the Bank of Canada).
Re: replacement notes: there have been quite a range of rare ones issued by BOC.
Initially as Devil's Face (all * replacements are exceptionally rare since most weren't released they were only issued for 2 years).
For the modified 1954 there were several that were never found until much later- including *C/I & *V/V $1.00
*Z/Z for the $2
Besides the *WA $20.00 the 1969-75 issues also had:
*AA (above 5M) ; *AB; *FB ; *FH; *MD for the $1.00
*BC for the $2.00
*CA (above 3.28 M); *CB & *SB (above 1.6 M)
*DE ; *DX ; *DY (above 4M)
-some of these * replacement notes were not discovered till much later so the notes that were discovered have been quite circulated.
While it is true that the Birds replacement notes were designated by X in the serial number- eventually that practice was abandoned so replacement notes were no longer identified (so these were challenging to find).
