Hello I discovered an odd date on a 1977 Lincoln Cent. the one is broken into two pieces. any info would be greatly appreciated. I just cant imagine wear and tear doing this to a date numeral. I am just an amateur that likes looking at circulated coins and this would be my first find if it is a true error. Thank you for reading my post and happy coin hunting and collecting. I will post an image as well.

I concur that what you see is PMD.

To CCF! That's just a contact mark that damaged the 1 of the date. It's not an error and is Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

I'm pretty sure that it's PSD. Doesn't look like the mints mistake.
