I spent the morning with my son in Lowell Mass at the ATB Quarter release. I was shocked by how big the event was. There were at least a few thousand people there with a portion of the audience being school field trips. It was very well organized, and staffed with dozens of National Park rangers. I brought the baby and he was given a quarter for being under 18. We also each got a roll of quarters and had them stamped and signed by one of the mint engravers.

We also got our national park book signed and stamped at the event, and then again at the park's visitors center down the street (Which was surprisingly empty).

My son is too young to remember, but I will tell him about it when he's older.

I think the event was bigger than others because it was downtown in a small city, and a lot of locals came out to buy the quarters featuring their city.

Pictures to follow (after our nap).

Correction, it wasn't an engraver signing coin rolls, it was Marc Landry who's current title is Acting Associate Director of the Numismatic and Bullion Directorate, United States Mint.

I was in attendance as well. This was the fifth coin launch ceremony I've attended, and I was very pleased to see the turnout and interest amongst the locals. This rivals the 2013 White Mountains National Forest quarter launch in terms of attendance, in my experience.

I was going to take my son to the Block Island release in November but it was cold and rainy, and a little to long of a drive down and back so I bailed last minute. I really like how they involve the communities though and basically go on tour through the state's introducing the coins.
