I found this today while looking through some recently found Wheat Cents, I'm seeing what could be doubling on the S mint mark. I'm not sure how the mint marks were done back then and if it could be done without affecting the date as well, so looking for input, DD or a PSD? Thank you.

It appears to be contact marks through circulation.

Just checked the three sites and only Wexler has a RPM listed for this year/mint. (Its a south) No match. I also feel it is coin damage. Looks like very well placed hits. (Not saying intentional, just well placed)

Also,it would not be a DDO on the mint mark. That would be called a RPM.

Not an RPM, just incidental contact.

Makes me wonder what they used? Like a small piece of aluminum tubing for spacing computer boards? Seems to small to be a spent shell?

It came out of a coin stash my Grandfather had. About 100 abs of pennies. Soi I didn't pay a premium on it thankfully. I'll be going through them for a while...and learning along the way.

I was able to get a better zoom with a different camera if you are interested.

I too have some of these that have been circulated heavier than others. Never hurts to look!

that would have to be two hits , one on the top left of the S and on the right , it looks like it might of been a rpm but the coin has been well used. take it to someone that can look at it in hand ( local dealer or coin club) for a better look if you want . good luck and happy hunting

Nice closeup with good detail.
Have to agree with Cookiemonster about circulation making it well used. It would take a much better grade coin to change the consensus about it being PSD.
