Hello again.

I am looking for help on finding information on the minting processes that were used from the large cents to the modern cents for Canadian coins. I would like to compare and contrast the differences between Canadians and US coinage. OR, where the processes the same? Would anyone be able to help on this one? I have scoured the web, wikipedia, and even emailed the RCM, which of course, was of no help whatsoever.

Thanks in advance!! :)

If you REALLY want the lowdown on Canadian Large Cents and the processes, get a copy of Rob Turner's Book "The 1858 Cents of Provincial Canada". There is no finer layout and explanation of everything than in Rob's book. It is very expensive, but he is a person that you should try to contact, just to talk to a guru ... and he's a friend of mine who lives out in Vegas.

Thank you again Okie! I have seen his book and his name. I may just have to suck it up and invest in it. Sounds like it would be well worth it in the long run anyways. I appreciate you and your help again!!

If you are a Large Cent person, Rob has written 4 books and each has a die tracker guide in the back for some specific dates.... 1858, 1859/8, 1890, 1891, 1892. But the real value is all the study and research that went into each of them. He has a website.

The presses are very different. You don't get saddle strikes, for example. Terry Campbell's 1995 book on Canadian errors has some information.
"Discovery follows discovery, each both raising and answering questions, each ending a long search, and each providing the new instruments for a new search." -- J. Robert Oppenheimer
