Can you post a pic looking straight down on the D ? from this angle it looks like MD, but I think there is a vertical bar inside the D !

They are pretty much straight down. The full size pics were cropped, but centered in the original photos. The second is almost straight down (I did not crop the photo). The closeup is from the same angle as the second.
I will get another photo though soon.

Looks like MD. And if the mint mark was doubled it would be called a RPM. John1

It's a great example of Machine Doubling. You can keep it as a reference piece, if you'd like.
