1943 $100 War Bond - Worth Keeping?

I don't know the individual that purchased the bond so probably can't just cash it in. Any collector value? I am more of a coin guru and really have very little interest in bonds. I'm not an expert on them, but I believe this large format type is one of the better ones. It might actually bring more than face value. I've seen similar $25 bonds retailing for $60 or more. If you could post some pics of a $25 that would be helpful. I'd treat them as collectibles as they are -- they'd look great in a proper frame! Report this Post to the Staff

Also the leather pouch for War Bonds will have some collector value, too. I haven't seen one of those before. Report this Post to the Staff

Please use them in the future. * I wrote a book on the subject, so someone on the board does know the answer. They are collectible. Prices vary based on issuing agent, state of issue, etc. These are fairly run-of-the-mill varieties that you have. The $100.00 will fetch the most, anywhere from $50.00-125.00. The best of the $25.00 are the consecutive pair. The one ending on 0000 is also nice. Of the 1800 or so bonds I have in my census none of them end in that many zeroes. Report this Post to the Staff
