Odd Holed & Countermarked 1738 Half Penny

Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 02/13/2019 10:19 pm Hi everyone, I just got this very odd holed 1738 Half Penny. While I am not certain if this is a regal piece or a contemporary counterfeit, I am mostly interested in knowing what you make of the countermarks on the obverse and reverse. It appears to be a floral pattern or a honey bee, and this same countermark repeats twice on the obverse and once on the reverse. Any guesses as to what this mark may be or mean? Thanks! Possibly a bracelet... maybe. As far as the counter stamps, who knows. They are the type of counter stamp you'd see used as a hallmark stamp by a jeweler perhaps. Just a stab there. Good Luck!
