I went to lunch today in the south Charlotte area, and got change back after I paid. I did not take notice of my change at the time, I just put it in my pocket and went along about my day. When I got home, I do as I always do and inspected my change as I emptied my pockets.
To my amazement, I had four 1970-S Lincoln pennies in my change. I am shocked because I thought the "S" mint coins only come in proof sets; am I wrong? Did certain "S" mint coins also come in rolls back then?

San Francisco made business strike cents from 1968-1974 which is what these are. You could look to be sure none of them are small dates.

Wow. 4 1970's at a time. Pretty cool. I always like finding S pennies. Where I live we get mostly D coins.

Check them for Large or Small Date. Small dates will carry a premium value.

Congrats , very odd that you found four 70-S Lincolns in one transaction . They might have had a whole roll of them in the change draw by the looks of them all being the same mostly red color .

You could try going back to that same place to see if they have more.

I thought about going back, but it was one of those places that I don't frequent much and is a little out of the way. If I had looked closer at my change while I was still there, I would have asked or more. Oh well, sometimes a blind dog finds a bone every now and then....
