Grade me if you can.
I think it needs cleaned but how to do it without destroying it? Vinegar, Acetone? I once heard years back to soak in olive oil? What do I need to do to help it survive a while longer?

Don't bother to mess with it, you will probably just make it worse. It is environmentally damaged, and can not be improved.

Agree with jimbucks - it has already been destroyed by the forces of nature and no conservation will restore it back ...

Acetone is generally recommended here. No harm in trying that, it seems.

Totally beyond restoration. Probably buried for a long time.

Cool, thanks! Was not paying attention, did not realize I had that many. :-)

I wish I knew where dad picked that one up, I have no idea. He did metal detect for a short time but I was with him when he did. Your right, it does look like alot of coins I dug up over the years.

John , Patience my friend . Mine is right around the corner .

ND Birdman , I would just leave it unless you feel like doing a major job on it considering the coin is basically cull right now . first give it an acetone soak then give it a long soak in Brasso . assuming it will come out looking all pink then your ready for the final step of retoning the coin .

I'd try an acetone soak, it'll be hard to make this one any worse than it is.
