Ordinarily it would be kind of silly to slab a Spike Head, but this one seemed worth it. The coin is decent grade, has a minor lamination error, and also is the discovery coin for the only listed Jefferson nickel Spike Head earlier than 1993. Yeah, nothing at all but this one for all those years.

It was also interesting to find out just how ANACS would slab such a coin. I like the idea of slabbing doubled die discovery coins since they get "discovery pc" on the label and the original coin can forever be identified. But would they put that on a Spike Head label?

Here is the answer. Yes, if you want your new Spike Head discovery (obviously must be listed on cuds-on-coins.com) slabbed then it will look something like this.

Very nice piece. In my opinion, it was worth getting graded. Great condition, nice spikehead, and decent lamination. Congrats TB!
