He had a good point. After some further image clarification my psych saw what I saw so he cleared me..

Harry Truman did say that, in fact. Always loved that quote.

Let me just say that the quote is well known and often attributed to Truman. Sigh. Any time I make up an answer, like the Fala one in this case, I try to have a bit of fun and make it faintly plausible. But I ALWAYS leave a clue to the sharp eye that the statement is obviously false. Anyone care to tell me what that clue was in this instance?

Fact or fiction I am going to pass this around like a...something-or-another that gets passed around. Now, if I only had a crisp Twenty.

There is a modest prize for the correct answer.

Sorry, good effort - FDR's spaniel's name is generally accepted as Fala.

Quote: Sorry, good effort - FDR's spaniel's name is generally accepted as Fala. Fala was a terrier (Scottish), not a spaniel. Other than that, the dates are correct, Fala is buried near FDR's grave... got nothing here.

Very clever Mr. Frog Fala died in 1952, therefor could not have been added to the 1945 engraving.

This thread is getting . Copying Coinfrog's seemingly innocuous initial statement below: Quote: That is, in fact, FDR's dog Fala - added to the engraving after the president's death in 1945. He was buried near FDR in 1952. Quote: Very clever Mr. Frog Fala died in 1952, therefor could not have been added to the 1945 engraving @Tunnioc, not sure your logic is sound there. A living dog could certainly be added to an engraving, if the engravers were so inclined. This thread is going to get its own Wiki article and/or Snopes citation after we're done. Sheesh!
