I think this is struck through above "ED ST'.
Also, looks like a tiny rim Cud or chip above the 'T'.
What do you think?

@achilles, I wonder if the whole thing isn't a Cud. Have you looked on the cuds-on-coins website yet?

Thanks for the feedback

I did check cuds-on-coins but it seems they are current up to 2016.

The longer element in question is definitely recessed into the coin.
The smaller chip/cud is definitely raised.

Good evening folks. I'm going to add to this thread because I'm still trying to figure out exactly what this is, the same issue appears on this 1983-P LMC I found. No matches on cud-on-coins for this one either but I'm thinking that might be the best explanation - a really early Cud stage... ' Cud Stage: Nebula' perhaps.
