1962 Washington Quarter (Gem)- Doubled Die Obverse / DDO

CoinHunter27 Pillar of the Community United States 5887 Posts	Posted 02/23/2019 10:52 pm I picked this up for $3-$5 at a coin show a few weeks ago for my silver collection, and for the awesome toning. Today I take a look at it, and oddly, there is a strong split on the 1. What I found weird is there is no signs of splitting anywhere else on the obverse. Extra thickness on IGWT? I don't think it's a hit or strike damage, it looks doubled. Could you take another look at my pictures of the 1? Thank you. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/24/2019 10:50 am The toning is probably from being in the cello many years. I don't think it was caused heat. Why? Because the location. Note how just the edge on the coin is affected. If it were from heat, I would think the center would be affected. Also the reverse shows a white color.
