Thanks for the grades. Looks like I need a better scope to photo steps. Coin in hand under a 10x loupe reveals 5 steps are present. Don't have my chart handy and can't recall if 6 steppers are known in 51-S.

Sorry Nick ,but you might need a microscope the kind scientists use to detect germs and virus' to see FS on that Nickel .

Steps are tough to capture. I'm still learning good photo techniques. Been reading and trying the tips others have posted.

For example, here's another photo of the same coin, but under different lighting. This time it looks like 2 steps plus some fractions.

1951-S-Jefferson-Nickel-For-Grading,-5-Steps?

I dug out an old PINC Sheet, at that time they had no record of a 51-S with 6 steps.

Tip - You don't need a 10X loupe to see full steps.

It is close but no full steps based on the interruption under the second column in your original post close-up. MS64
