I picked up this beauty last week at an estate sale. I think it is just gorgeous.

Pardon the weird border. I'm revamping my post processing scripts.

Slight cameo wear on the high points.
EF (British grading system)

Patina may be hiding a few hairline scratches and tiny digs, but impossible to say from the picture.

Would grade as SUP (Superbe) under the French grading system. Very nice coin.

I was pretty surprised by the responses, because I would have said AU55 minimum (Sheldon). However, now I see that the UK and French systems don't have an AU category, so that makes more sense. (I literally learn something new every day on here.) I also meant to mention that the coin has great luster. It cartwheels very nicely and evenly.

Unfortunately, this coin was handled pretty roughly recently. At a minimum, it was dumped out of a bag into a tray, and then dumped back into a bag, transported home and dumped back out onto a table. I think all the shiny spots in the patina around the rim and the high points are due to that process.

Here is a full size link to the photo.

I agree.

The edges/dentils look a little softer than some other examples I saw looking through CoinArchives, but I don't see other issues I thin would prevent a grade in mid-AU range. I agree with sel_691 that if you look hard and compare to other examples, you can see what appears to be very slight wear on flowers, acorn tops, tips of wheat ears, etc, but it's not much.

I may spend too much time looking at older stuff where the standards of the TPGs seem to be pretty loose, so maybe I'm biased toward more generous grades.

Slight design fault on the obverse:
I notice that the necklace and the baselines of 'REP' form an extension of each other.
I was a bit distracted by this feature in the larger pictures.
Perhaps the designer should have put the necklace slightly higher on the neck.

Agree mid-AU by US standards, EF by UK standards.

Just the slightest rub on the high points. AU-58 for me.
