Good evening everybody I just have a few questions about this Wheat cent, which I have quite a few of them in this year. The obverse and reverse of the coin shows the raised images of the Ecuador 20 Centavo but it only weighs 3.26 grams and not 4.0 grams like the foreign planchet that it was struck on. I have quite a few coins that have the same circumstances in different years and was wondering what the reasoning is behind it or if it is a different form of error or not. This coin here has clipped as well and I could not find a listing on it so I figured I would put it on here for you guys too set me straight with the facts on this coin I appreciate it in advance and thank you. Here are a few images...

@skippy, yes this looks like a clipped plachet to me, although your pics don't show much evidnce of an underlying strike. Perhaps you can upload a close up pic with arrows or some indication of what you are seeing with the coin in hand? Beyond that, I am uncertain how any coin could be struck on a diiferent plnchet but still weigh the right amount as if it was struck on a normal cent planchet.

Nice find! It's a Curved Incomplete Clipped Planchet.

I was wondering what the correct terminology was for it or if it was PMD. So, thanks. Is it listed anywhere? And Spence, thanks for your input.

All I see is a clipped planchet. Check your scale, the coin should weigh 3.1 grams +/-.13 grams.

Agreed that it is a genuine clip. Unlike varieties, errors like this are not "listed" anywhere because each is unique. I can tell you from personal experience that clips are not uncommon on WWI-era cents, and your coin is worth $2-4 to an error collector.
