Hello Zippyzee and !

Please could you post larger photos of both sides of the coin? From the one small photo you've posted I can't even tell whether it's a 5c, 10c or 20c piece.

It may also help to indicate the weight and diameter if these are different from normal coins of the same denomination. Thanks!

It is probably just PMD (post-mint damage) but we need clearer photos to see exact what is going on!

. To the CCF

Would you please post cropped photos of both sides.
It looks like it is intentional damage but would like to
see both sides to confirm.

It doesn't look like a mint error, given that I have a reasonably good imagination and can't imagine how such a thing could possibly be made in the mint. It therefore seems reasonable that it's "post-mint damage" or, in this case, "post-mint artwork", since the damage seems to be deliberately artistic in nature.

Non-mint-error "funny-looking coins" are not usually considered valuable or collectable by coin collectors, but you might find some artistic types who would be prepared to pay more than face value / scrap metal value for it.

Surely a deliberate disfiguration.

An easy thing to whack grooves on the rim of one side with the other undamaged by putting it on a piece of wood. Worth 10 cents

I agree that it is PMD (Post Mint Damage).

I would say that, because of the regularity of the spacing of the grooves around the rim and on one side only, that the coin has been subjected to some kind of machine cog interference (similar to an old fashioned can opener but on a much larger scale).

An interesting find though ... keep looking! #128515;

I'm not so sure it's PMD. Isn't the lettering too far in from the edge.

To me it looks like someone had too much time on their hands and tooled it.

I just compared it to one of my pics and it looks like the writing is the same distance from the edge.
