Hi All out there,

In Australia the government issues baby uncirculated and proof sets, which seem to be very popular. They are normal sets with a special baby medallion and space for things like: family tree and information surrounding the baby.

Since we have such a large member community around the world, I thought I would ask does any other country issue them?

Thanks,
lars

As far as I am aware some european union countries issue them. Perth Mint does a bush baby kooka set.

I know the Netherlands, Finland and France issue baby sets. They don't do it in the states as our mint only sees money, not babies! Probably would be a good seller up here and I am surprised the Mint has not put out something along that line! Nothing better than getting a kid and his parents "hooked" at a young age!

In the Netherlands, the first baby set was made in 1996, sinds then every year there comes one out, with the baby medal, in nice sheets.
Those sets are highly collected here, and the first isseu's, are at the moment around 45 euro if you want them.
This is almost a doubling of the set price when givven out, so there is a market for them.

Greetings, Carl

The Perth Mint issued a Baby Pack Folder with the 2000 Silver Millennium Dollar Proof Coin. Hard to get...the last I saw one of this on ebay the seller got about three times its issue price.

Thanks for the info.

I might need to jump onto a few Europian nations for some baby sets.

I have the ram baby sets but I am not a big fan of the Perth Mint.

One of my co-workers does something similar to this. She makes sets up for her Godchildren, but she buys coins from 100 years before the kids were born. Really cool and different, and not too terribly expensive. A couple of the kids have gotten the collecting bug from her, and they think it's the coolest thing if she brings home halves and the occasional Ike that comes in.

We got birth year sets as gifts when my siblings and I were kids. They all got silver coins, and I got clad (1965). What a gyp.
