It's funny that you should post this tonight. I just saw this seller's coins and commented to Bobby on yet another fly-by-night grading service. I bid on an Indian Head that this guy is selling. Didn't care about the holder. There is nothing on Google that I could find and I can't find anybody else selling these except this one seller. Probably doing it in his basement and selling them. Won't be the first time....or the last.

Lol.. I just sent him a question regarding them. Basically stating that I can't find any information about them, bla bla bla, where are they located?.. We'll see if he even responds to it. Surprising that his feedback rate is so high, though.. Only 2 negs in the last 12 months.

I did notice that many of these coins are low grades. The IHC that I'm bidding on is only a G6 (which I'm bidding on as a G4). I hope I win it so that I can see why it was felt that the coin was better than G4. Obviously, this coin would be cracked out the minute I have it anyway.

Actually, I just realized that the auction I bid on ended a while ago. Here is the link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...m=8369165103It's amazing that people don't realize that coins being sold in substandard slabs sell for considerably less money. I had every intention of cracking this out and selling it raw in the $35 range (unless there were problems with the coin that I wasn't aware of.) If the seller had sold this coin as raw, I think he could have seen at least $30 for it.

His exact response:
"TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I CAN'T REALLY SAY. I SUBMIT MY COINS THRU A DEALER FRIEND. HE SAYS THEY ONLY ACCEPT SUBMISSIONS FROM DEALERS AND ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CUSTOMERS SO I SUBMIT THRU HIM.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MY AUCTIONS.
RANDY"
Sounds just a little shady to me--lol..

It's amazing how many fly-by-night slab companies are out there. I have never liked slabs anyway, so I haven't paid much attention, but from reading posts on the subject here I am truly amazed, although I should perhaps not be so surprised. The only time I prefer to buy a slabbed coin is when it is an issue that is commonly faked, and then I will only consider the major grading services.
This hobby sure is full of scams, but fortunately many of them are easily uncovered.

Even from the bad pics I would have a hard time giving it a G6 rating I would have said AG which is what the high bidder paid for.

Really? It looked to me as though the rims and lettering were complete, making it a G4.
