Is it possible to cherry pick over mint marks from already graded coins? I thought the graders automatically assign the OMM if present.

PS: I guess this same question would apply to over dates too?

I'm not sure that they look for that and list it, unless you pay for that service? Lot of collectors I know, prefer ANACS for that

Worth a try. Remember those TPGS's are just people and people make errors.

I cherrypicked (thanks to the book) an 1858/7 FE.
But that overdate is VERY hard to detect.
I bought it in a PCGS slab (MS-something) and paid to have it changed from 1858 to 1858/7.
Upped the value by something like $1000.

I would say yes, go for it! Graders are people who can have off days and they may not necessarily be looking for that on a straight submission. Worst case scenario you spend time looking at coins...
