If I can figure out how to upload a pic I was hoping someone could tell me what caused the gouge that runs aruns most of the way aroud the nickel. You can see it in all the lettering.

Hi Rock on people and to the forum!
I've seen coin rolling (wrapping) machines cause similar damage to the end coin in a roll.

Welcome to the Forum RoP. You've come to a phenomenal place to share and learn.

Coin roll wrapper a definite possibility. Might have gotten caught in a change machine. Regardless it's PMD. The damage happened after the coin left the mint.
