In checking into this 1960d the other day I inadvertently noticed what looks to be an error on the reverse topside Memorial right side and Walt's trying to look up here came across what appears to be the buffed out and removed but over polished Diamond choker for the variety Vista 1960-d DDR 0:03. I could be way off base oh, just wondering what you guys think about the possibility...

Markers only mean something on a know variety coin. A marker by it shelf is just a die event. Markers can identify varieties, but you can find markers and think it is an attributed die. Why? Because the dies go through the same processes until the die is retired. So look for the Variety first, and see if you can match a marker for a known die. It just works one way.

Thanks for the reply Coop. I suppose what I should have asked is; is there a known reverse die for this year that contained the error that's seems apparent in my coin, which seems to be backed up by it's apparent removal and subsequent reference as a particular dye marker in the 1960 d DDR 0:03?

I wasn't asking whether my coin is a double die reverse, but rather if there's a monument error in 1960 that was removed but only partially so, or perhaps too aggressively since the marker is actually referred to as subsidence.

It's very possible the coin I have a contains no error at all and I'm just dreaming something up here. I think I see something here though and just wanted the group's opinion. Cheers!
