Good evening everyone. I got this coin back with change from a purchase I made at a convenience store and it stood right out amonst the other change. My guess is that it is made of brass but then again it is just a guess because actually I do not have a clue. It weighs 3.1 grams. Here are a few images and I'm sure you guys can tell me exactly what it is and I thank you in advance for having a look....

Normal coin, possibly acid-treated.

Just a normal coin. What makes you think it was struck on a Foriegn planchet? If it was, then the weight wouldn't be the same. The weight for your coin is correct and well within the U.S Mint tolerances.

In regards to thinking it may possibly be on a foreign planchet, some countries coin were of the same side and weight as ours. For example, Panama (except the 2 1/2) and Liberia in the 60's. Ofcourse this 1979 cent doesn't fall in that time frame, but I was thinking anything may be possible. But now I know other wise and I appreciate the information.
