Hello,

As I stated in a previous post, I am selling coins now that I had not intended to sell.

I'd like to get at least close to what I paid for them - obviously, more if possible, and if they are worth it.

Here are 4 Peace dollars I had purchased on ebay years ago. The seller was a top rated seller; I know pretty much any grade can be claimed, so, when I saw "MS63", "MS64", and "MS65" I had my suspicions, but I purchased them anyway (again, top rated seller).

When I got the coins, I found that I had others that were supposed to be merely BU that looked better than some of these. So, I am going to list these on ebay, but do not want to claim MS## if they are not possibly this.

I know the pictures I am posting are low quality, but, can anyone help tell me if these come close to the original grade stated on them?

Here is what the holder says for each:

1923 P - MS65

1922 D - MS64

1923 D - MS63

1926 S - MS63 (this one looks the "worst," in my opinion, of the three)

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Grape, the 1922D - due to the gash on the face? That one does look better overall than the 1926S and the 1923D in my opinion, and the seller I bought it from put it at 64. So, about what MS level do you think is on the safe side? I won't list it as emphatically MS##, but I would put a possibility.

The 22 D is almost certainly a details coin. That gash is pretty bad

Since these are raw common dates you are not likely to recoup what you paid. Most do look low MS with a total value for the group around $100 retail. Not trying to burst your bubble, just being honest. Sorry.

P.S. ebay does not allow numeric grade values to be listed unless the coin is certified by an approved grading service.

Basebal, thanks for the info.

BH1964 - somehow this dealer did. These coins did not come in a case with any certified grading. I only remember that he had a lot of stars as a seller, so, I hesitantly trusted him. Each coin came in a plastic case with "MS##" written on a label next to a label with the date. I do not recall any official certification claimed by the dealer - but, again, he did list them as such.

Foolishly, I paid approximately $260.00 for the 4 of them.

Given what you just said, and others, I guess I'll just do a $1.00 starting bid on each (in fact, I just did that, and was unsure if it was the right action - you just helped reassure me that it is). Thanks for the honesty as to the assessed value!

The dollar starting bid is probably a good way to go. Don't be disappointed if you don't get $20 or so for them.

Try to look at it as a learning experience. Surely you'll get $100 or so and the loss is not huge. Believe me I've lost much more on many buy/sells. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but if you learn along the way it's all good.

Best of luck with your auctions.

with your approach. Let the market decide their value. There are certainly many eyes on those coins.

If you don't need the money, you could wait for the price of silver to go up. I'd argue that it's pretty low right now.

What was the price of silver when you bought these coins?
