Picked this up yesterday.

Has very nice hour-glass under minimum light and nice fields.
Could this make it as a possible MS65PL?

Has 2 noticable dings- one is one the bottom of the U in Pluribus on the Obv and the other is on the 4th olive leaf near the Eagles bottom feathers on the Reverse.

The obverse has a funky look to it, which very well could be from the picture. Based on the picture provided, the cheek is far too chatty to earn more than an ms63. As far as the PL designation, both sides would need a minimum of 4-6 inches of clear refectivity which cannot be seen in the picture. 1887's don't require the frostiness that an 80-s would require.
Any chance of another obverse picture?

Hadleydog:

Here are some mmore closer obverse pictures.

Thanks for your grade opinion.

I know its very hard to try and get a real good fix sometimes based on pictures.
I tried to take these in 2 different light settings while trying to accent the cheek area.I'm more happy that this is a Vam3A as to what the grade might be.
Besides having the incused letters t.t M etc it also has some real nice die clashes especially by the lip.

Just found an 1887P Vam3A - NGC graded MS66 on E-bay- for sale for $499.99.

Here are some pics of this MS66. coin- I know mine doesn't come close on the Obverse, but IMHO ,it would give it a run for its money regarding the Reverse- so I'm now thinking maybe MS64/65? for mine and also not PL.

Hi Chuckster. The reverse of your coin does grade an ms65, but the obverse is still no better than an ms63. The reverse can only bring the coin up by half a grade, so if the obverse had been a borderline ms64, it could be bumped to ms64. However, the obverse of the coin in question looks like a low end ms63, so the grade would stand as ms63. That make sense?

Yeah- its a MS63.5- "NEW Grading System!"

Seriously- the grade is fine, whatever, I'm more than happy with it because of it being a Vam3A- its value is greater than just an ordinary 1887P MS63.

( Not bad for a $41.00 investment plus $6.15 S&H- Paid $47.15 ( ebay Bid winner!)

I was bidding on the condition etc of the coin- had no idea at the time what VAM this coin would turn out to be.

Thanks again for your response- appreciate it.

Chuck.
