I have a 1955 P LWC and I believe this to be a DDR. The stems are thicker than normal and some of the lettering appear to be thicker than normal as well. To better illustrate what I am seeing I am posting pictures of a normal 1955 cent reverse. There is nothing on any site that matches this cent. Most all of the DDR's from this year are proof cents with only a couple of business strikes being DDR, this matches none of them. Thoughts?

You might be on to something, but this slight extra thickness could be explained as die wear as it is a VLDS. Can you get any pics of E PLURIBUS UNUM, that's usually what I use to identify Wheat cent DDRs.

Definitely doesn't match anything listed. I don't see any noticeable extra thickness on EPU or the wheat lines, so I think it's more likely die wear than a DDR.

There are very few Class II/VI DDRs that don't have doubling on EPU, and considering how your coin is VLDS I don't think it's likely to be a DDR.

The wheat stems look interesting in size comparision. But they may not be cropped and sized exactly the same. Most othen the DDR is on the upper part of the design. (That way on all of CONECAs images) But maybe some larger images of the lower part of the wheat grains area and USA to see it is is really a DDR on the lower part of the design.

Mr. Coop, the cents were side by side when I took the comparison photos. I tried to crop the exact same amount on the pics but the were both from the same distance with the same macro lense. They are huge in comparison to the normal cent.

Try taking a wider area. with a normal and this coin. I check Wexler's site also and his site usually shows the DDR on the top and bottom of the coin. That may show more so we can compare the side by side better. Sometimes too close removes the over all size in a wrong way. But it looks like something going on.

It's a normal coin with die wear.
