I bought this fella at a coin show, my very first and I was just wondering the value and grade on it. I'm not entirely for sure what it is besides the fact that it has more detail than a regular proof.

Thank you!

Looks pretty typical for this common issue.

Tell me about your handle - why are you seeking death?

Thanks all, but I still have some questions. The guy selling it said it was a gem proof, what does this mean?
Does it increase the value? Is it special?
I paid $8 for it, did I get my value back?

Coinfrog it's simply an old nickname, well, not a nickname but just a name I thought was interested back in the day, stuck with me I suppose.

It means PR 65,but I do not think that coin is that high of a grade. The Red Book states:Proof (60)-Choice proof (63)-Gem Proof (65).

No.

Gem is anything that grades 65 or better.
Those are 66-67.
Worth about $8-10
