Found this in my change today. Opinions appreciated. This is not a gold plated coin. The edge is a normal sandwich construction.

With the right environment, copper nickel (in this case clad) coins go through a nice even gold colored tone, on their way to complete patination.

So far, all of the nicely golden toned coins copper nickel coins (and that is very few), have been in MS60 or better.

So, the clad golden quarters have little value over their face value?

places like QVC and HSN sometimes sell these type of coins - they are slightly plated - but not by the USMINT - they sell them as collector coins.

i do not think they have any value above .25
